Warrant Block Information
The Toledo Municipal Court issues warrant blocks for two (2)
reasons:
1. After a bench warrant is issued by a Judge or Magistrate for failure to
appear in court. 2. Fines, fees and court costs not paid on time.
A warrant block prevents the person from renewing their driver’s license,
renewing license plates or purchasing new plates from the Bureau of Motor
Vehicles.
Warrant blocks can only be released by the court that issued the block.
If a warrant block was issued due to past due fines, fees or court costs will
not be released until all money owed the court is paid in full. The Court will
issue a warrant block release that must be taken to a Bureau of Motor Vehicles
reinstatement office. A $15.00 fee is then due to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
If a warrant block is issued due to a bench warrant for failure to appear in
court, the defendant must take care of the bench warrant before a release letter
is issued. The warrant block release letter also needs to be taken to the Bureau
of Motor Vehicles reinstatement Office. A $15.00 fee will be due to the Bureau
of Motor Vehicles.
